Course Overview
Proper firearm maintenance involves much more than simply running a few patches through the barrel. The way a firearm is cleaned and maintained can have a significant impact on its reliability, consistency, accuracy, and service life.
Our Firearm Cleaning Clinic is an 6-hour hands-on training course designed for hunters and shooters who want to learn a structured and effective approach to firearm cleaning and maintenance.
Hands-On Training
Throughout the day, we will cover the different steps involved in properly maintaining a firearm, with particular attention given to hunting and precision rifles.
You will learn how fouling builds up inside the barrel, how to identify different types of fouling, and how to properly use cleaning products, tools, and accessories.
We will also discuss how to establish a maintenance routine based on how you actually use your firearm, rather than simply cleaning it automatically after every shooting session.
What You Will Learn
- The fundamentals of effective firearm cleaning
- Choosing the proper cleaning rods, bore guides, brushes, patches, and accessories
- Proper use of solvents and cleaning products
- Removing carbon and copper fouling
- Cleaning and maintaining the barrel and chamber
- General firearm inspection
- Common cleaning mistakes and how to avoid them
- Protecting your firearm during storage
- Determining cleaning frequency based on the type and volume of shooting
- Best practices for maintaining the accuracy and consistency of your rifle
The goal is not simply to show you what to do, but more importantly to help you understand why you are doing it.
